What You'll Do:Develop innovative metrics and sampling techniques to evaluate driving trajectories generated by ML models. Implement creative simulation strategies to assess the driving performance of generative AI models. Identify edge cases and provide reliable performance insights that guide model development and deployment. Create data pipelines for signal discovery, data labeling, feature extraction, and metric computation based on large-scale simulations. Perform data analysis to identify regressions in ML models. Collaborate with our world-class engineering and research teams that are developing large-scale ML models. What You Bring:7+ years of relevant industry experience in a quantitative software engineering domain. Proven ability to navigate complex technical and product landscapes, defining technical strategies and creating actionable roadmaps. Software Engineering Fundamentals:Proficiency in Python or C++ programming languages. Experience with software design principles, coding best practices, testing methodologies, and version control systems.

Central to our success is our capacity to measure progress effectively. Robust evaluation is crucial for deploying any large model, and at Waymo, the challenge is particularly intricate and safety-critical. We seek quantitatively-minded engineers to innovate and propose new methods for assessing the machine learning models integrated into the Waymo Driver.
