Contract Duration: 12 Months
This pivotal role reports directly to the Supervisor of Area Coordination and plays a crucial part in supporting field personnel engaged in construction and maintenance of substation and transmission assets. As a Senior Substation Planner, you will take on the responsibility of preparing comprehensive work packages necessary for both construction and maintenance tasks.
Your expertise will involve reviewing the maintenance and performance history of equipment to identify special requirements needed for successful project execution. You will also have the opportunity to identify additional maintenance work or capital projects that can be undertaken concurrently, enhancing resource efficiency.
In this role, you will meticulously document and analyze variances between actual and estimated job task hours, ensuring that any issues are communicated effectively to schedulers and supervisors. Additionally, you may be tasked with ensuring the accurate completion of NERC-related documentation.
Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with construction resources and teams within Transmission Project Management to effectively plan, estimate, and allocate resources across all assigned projects. A solid understanding of construction activities and the ability to leverage resources from the Construction Section will be essential.
Your responsibilities will also include the development and implementation of construction and maintenance work plans that support the annual budget ranging from $150M to $300M. You will be expected to manage changes in these plans to align with fluctuating funding requirements and execute the highest priority work.
Ultimately, as a Senior Substation Planning Engineer, you will ensure the successful completion of the annual Construction & Maintenance work plan, developing work packages that detail:
- Scope of work
- Accurate time estimates
- Required skill sets
- Necessary procedures and tools
- Mobile equipment and special part needs
- Project timelines for scheduling
