Required Skills and Experience8+ years of relevant experience in Manufacturing, Supplier Process Engineering, Design, or a related field. Demonstrated ability to motivate suppliers and lead teams to resolve complex technical and process challenges. Proficient in pFMEA, process validation, and inspection and testing techniques. Experience with Word, Excel, PLM (preferably Agile), and ERP systems (preferably SAP). Required Education and TrainingBachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience. Ability to read and modify engineering drawings. Strong understanding of ASME Y14.5 GD&T, with a willingness to acknowledge knowledge gaps. Familiarity with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP). Working ConditionsWillingness to travel to suppliers as necessary, both domestically and internationally, between 10% and 25% of the time.

Primary Function of the Position

The Supplier Engineering team is dedicated to guaranteeing high-quality and dependable delivery of purchased production components from suppliers who adhere to stringent quality systems. Each Senior Supplier Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring that suppliers meet ISI standards for product quality, cost efficiency, and service excellence.

Essential Job Duties

  • Lead Part Qualification activities for Supply Chain Engineering initiatives
    • Collaborate with Core Product Teams to define effective manufacturing methods for metal commodities at supplier locations.
    • Develop manufacturing processes, testing, and inspection protocols prior to part qualification.
  • Provide Line Support for Manufacturing
    • Evaluate and prioritize component-related issues.
    • Oversee the disposition of non-conforming materials and address significant non-conformances through formal corrective actions.
    • Drive corrective action initiatives using Root Cause Analysis tools (8D, 5 Whys, etc.), identifying true root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive measures.
  • Lead Manufacturing Process Selection
    • Determine the most suitable manufacturing processes for parts, taking into account process quality, long-term capacity, and total lifecycle costs.
    • Identify opportunities for Design for Manufacturability (DFM) to enhance quality, reduce costs, or improve supply chain capacity.
    • Educate internal stakeholders and suppliers on supplier quality, process capabilities, and best manufacturing practices for key supplier processes.
