Qualifications

Required Skills and Experience:Proficient understanding of AWS/GCP concepts and workflows. A minimum of 3 years of experience in UNIX/Linux, Mac OS X, and Windows system administration. Technical expertise in standard CG, compositing, and color grading applications including Maya, Houdini, Flame, Nuke, and Baselight. Strong OS X and Windows support and configuration skills. Experience with large-scale systems preferred, such as render farms, clusters, and cloud environments. Self-motivated and autonomous worker. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. System administration knowledge of Active Directory, DNS, and DHCP. Experience in programming or scripting is a plus (e.g., Bash, Python, PowerShell). Education:Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in VFX or similar industries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver expert technical support to VFX Artists utilizing Linux workstations.
  • Guide and mentor Technical Engineers, fostering their professional development within the department.
  • Oversee the maintenance of server room and colocation facility equipment in collaboration with Technology Engineers.
  • Design, manage, and troubleshoot network infrastructures, focusing on Layer 2/3 network switches.
  • Maintain and support physical security systems and applications to ensure optimal performance.
  • Install, deploy, and troubleshoot various VFX tools including Flame, Maya, Nuke, and Baselight.
  • Administer and uphold infrastructure that includes Linux render nodes, Isilon storage, Linux servers, workstations, network equipment, and virtual machines.
  • Take ownership of diverse projects involving evaluation, installation, development, and decommissioning, supporting the Technology team.
  • Manage preventative maintenance schedules effectively.
  • Possess knowledge of relevant security technologies and processes, including encryption and authentication methods.
  • Demonstrate understanding of virtualization, containerization, and cloud computing technologies.
  • Upgrade and configure infrastructure systems and software as required.
  • Support and mentor junior team members to enhance their skills.
