In response to our substantial achievements in infrastructure planning and the emergence of new opportunities, we are excited to welcome a Senior Town Planner to our dynamic team. You will be part of a collaborative environment, engaging with a diverse range of projects that will challenge and enhance your skill set.

This position is based in our Birmingham or Leeds office, with the flexibility of hybrid working arrangements.

You will have the chance to contribute to an array of prestigious infrastructure projects across the energy transition, rail, and water development domains, in addition to various regional and local developments. AECOM stands as a leader in UK infrastructure development, with a robust portfolio that includes over 80 Development Consent Order (DCO) projects. By joining us, you could be involved in:

  • Numerous solar DCOs with a strong future project pipeline;
  • Carbon capture and storage initiatives;
  • Energy transmission projects;
  • Large-scale aviation and rail developments;
  • Housing and mixed-use development consenting.

As a vital member of our esteemed infrastructure planning team, your responsibilities will include:

Project Coordination and Delivery

  • Facilitating the successful execution of major development applications, coordinating multidisciplinary teams across various project types.
  • Supporting project management efforts and adhering to quality and health & safety standards.

Planning Advice and Strategy

  • Offering planning guidance to colleagues and clients regarding consent requirements and the application of permitted development rights.
  • Conducting planning research and analysis, assisting in planning feasibility reports and consent strategies.

Documentation and Application Management

  • Drafting Planning Statements and Design and Access Statements for development applications.
  • Leading, submitting, and managing planning applications, including engaging with local planning authorities and key stakeholders.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborating closely with the Environmental Impact Assessment team.
  • Participating in both internal and external meetings to foster collaboration.

Research, Business Development, and Project Management

  • Contributing to the creation of successful commercial tenders.
  • Engaging in planning research and analysis to support feasibility reports and consent strategies.
