Gather design requirements from multidisciplinary teams to develop innovative concepts for valves and actuators. Utilize Siemens NX CAD software to model components for our Nova launch vehicle. Conduct structural analysis of components using both hand calculations and FEA software. Perform fluid dynamics analysis utilizing hand calculations and CFD software. Develop manufacturing plans for high-rate production environments and participate in the assembly of valves and actuators on the production floor. Create and execute testing procedures for valves and actuators, encompassing acceptance, development, and qualification testing. Engage directly with suppliers to procure necessary parts. Integrate manufacturing best practices into your designs to enhance manufacturability.

Role overview

The Senior Valves and Actuator Engineer will work on the design, development, testing, and production of valves and actuators for the Nova vehicle. This includes responsibility for both in-house and commercially sourced components, such as engine flow control valves, large propellant valves, high-pressure gas valves, throttle valve actuators, and engine gimbal thrust vector control actuators.

  • Lead the entire lifecycle of valve and actuator designs, from initial definition through manufacturing, testing, and qualification.
  • Develop components for both stages and engines of the Nova launch vehicle.
  • Work closely with a mission-driven team focused on rapid iteration and in-house manufacturing.
