We are seeking a Software Development Manager to become a vital part of our team in Auckland. In this pivotal role, you will lead the engagement and performance of a dedicated squad of engineers, fostering resilience and cultivating high-performance through example and empowerment. The ideal candidate should possess a robust technical background and the ability to provide guidance on technical decisions that influence other teams and the organization as a whole.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coach, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of talented engineers. This includes all facets of people management such as recruiting, onboarding, and utilizing effective strategies like one-on-ones, pair programming, and training sessions.
- Facilitate a high-trust environment for code delivery using continuous integration practices, ensuring a consistent delivery cadence and solid stakeholder engagement through demos, retrospectives, and blameless incident reviews. While you may not be writing code daily, you will still lead by example by participating in code reviews, resolving issues, and providing technical documentation.
- Assess the performance of our technical architecture and stay ahead of industry trends.
Qualifications:
We are looking for a candidate with:
- Demonstrated experience in a Senior or Staff Software Development role.
- Proven leadership skills in delivering solutions for complex challenges, including experience in architecting and managing project delivery.
- Extensive experience in major systems development in one or more programming languages, preferably with a background in SaaS products.
- Experience navigating organizational changes and implementing new processes.
