About the job
About Us
At Helsing, we are on the forefront of defense technology, specializing in artificial intelligence to safeguard democracies. Our goal is to ensure that open societies retain the ability to make independent decisions and uphold their ethical standards.
As champions of democracy, we recognize our unique obligation to responsibly develop and implement advanced technologies like AI. This responsibility is at the heart of our mission.
We are a dedicated and dynamic team of engineers, AI experts, and customer-oriented program managers, seeking individuals driven by a sense of purpose to join our European teams. Here, you will apply your expertise to tackle the most intricate and impactful challenges. We cultivate a culture of openness and transparency, encouraging healthy discussions about the role of technology in defense, its advantages, and ethical considerations.
Your Role
As a Software Engineer, you will design the autonomy system for a pioneering autonomous aerial platform that will take to the skies. You will not only develop software but also integrate cutting-edge reinforcement learning agents into the operational systems of our Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicle (UCAV), the CA-1 Europa, as part of the innovative Centaur project. This is a rare opportunity to significantly contribute to a groundbreaking autonomous system built from the ground up.
Operating at the intersection of machine learning and systems engineering, you will embed reinforcement learning agents into high-performance runtime systems, facilitating real-time autonomous decision-making during flight. Your code will empower the CA-1 Europa to perceive, reason, and act autonomously in the most challenging environments.
The solutions we create ultimately serve real people in high-risk, high-stress situations, requiring our work to be exceptionally reliable.
