Our Mission
At Quilt, we are dedicated to transitioning humanity away from fossil fuel heating. An astounding 20% of the U. S. global warming emissions originate from homes, surpassing emissions from cars. The primary contributor to these emissions is the burning of fossil fuels for heating. To combat climate change, over 80 million homes in the U. S. must shift from combustion-based heating to efficient electric heat pumps in the coming decades.
We believe that achieving this transition requires exceptional products that are easy to purchase and adopt. Currently, most heat pumps lack intuitive design, underutilize software, and present challenges during adoption. We are developing a next-generation home heating and cooling system that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also optimized by AI, outperforming existing solutions by a factor of ten.
The Challenge
While AI agents can generate code at speeds 100 times faster than human developers, our primary bottleneck lies in code verification. At Quilt, we create software that operates on physical hardware within homes. A software bug could mean a family is left without heat. Our codebase encompasses embedded C++ for custom devices, cloud infrastructure, and mobile applications. Currently, much of our verification process relies on manual testing methods, such as physically visiting a test bench to execute tests.
Our goal is to build a robust development factory that streamlines code verification.
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer to lead our developer infrastructure initiatives. This includes developing simulators, test harnesses, CI/CD pipelines, and verification systems that empower our engineering team (and our AI agents) to deploy features quickly and confidently. Your contributions will be pivotal in enhancing the efficiency and reliability of our software development lifecycle.
