As solar and wind energy emerge as the primary contributors to electricity generation, the variability in weather and grid conditions leads to fluctuating energy prices. Gridmatic confronts this challenge head-on with cutting-edge forecasting and optimization techniques, allowing our team to engage in meaningful work that impacts the future of energy. Our core operations involve forecasting and trading energy, utilizing vast datasets—comprising weather, price trends, energy load, and grid conditions—to create machine learning forecasts that inform critical operational decisions. This directly influences when energy is procured, stored, or utilized, transforming uncertainty into tangible benefits for customers and the grid.
Our achievements are quantifiable: Gridmatic is recognized as the most profitable participant in ERCOT’s wholesale market and operates the leading battery asset in CAISO. We have achieved profitability without relying on venture capital, fostering a collaborative, low-ego culture that values analytical thinking, independence, and ongoing learning.

In the past 18 months, our energy sales have surged by approximately 100 times, and we aim to amplify this growth tenfold to establish ourselves as a gigawatt-scale energy retailer, positioning us as a frontrunner in the renewable energy landscape.

To accomplish this, we are developing automated systems and tools to simplify the onboarding of large industrial energy clients, including data centers and flexible load businesses. The complexities surrounding pricing, usage forecasting, and contract negotiations necessitate a sophisticated platform for automation. While traditional energy companies rely on large sales teams, we are determined to achieve significant growth with fewer than ten sales professionals.

We are on the lookout for talented product engineers who can help realize this ambitious vision. Ideal candidates will thrive in a fast-paced environment, excel at shipping and iterating on projects, and possess the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to determine product development priorities.
