About the Role The Ground Systems team at Zipline is responsible for the critical infrastructure that supports our autonomous delivery drones, including docking stations, battery charging, thermal management, ground communications, and preflight checks. This role is pivotal in advancing our next generation of drone logistics, tackling complex challenges in power distribution, conversion, battery charging, high-performance microprocessors, high-speed network communication, and system-level integration. We are looking for an accomplished electrical engineering leader to oversee a dynamic team focused on electrical hardware design within the Ground Systems team. This technical expert will mentor and expand the team while directly contributing to the design process as we scale. Your team will architect and develop custom Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBAs), integrated sensing, RF solutions, and sophisticated industrial systems for our ground systems hardware, ensuring validation for high-volume production. Our ground systems are critical for flight safety and are deployed globally. Zipline relies on this team to pioneer innovative solutions that enable exceptional scalability and efficiency. Your success will hinge not only on technical breakthroughs but also on a profound understanding of customer requirements.
