About YouYou hold a degree in Business Administration or a related field within Accounting and Finance. You have at least 4 years of experience in a responsible role within a well-structured and international organization. Your proactive approach, organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, confidentiality, teamwork, and leadership experience are key assets. You possess a solid understanding of tax legislation and general accounting principles in both local GAAP and US GAAP. You are fluent in both written and spoken English and Portuguese; proficiency in Spanish is a plus. Experience with Great Plains is advantageous. You have strong proficiency in the Office suite, particularly Excel.

About the job

As a Staff Accountant, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing, managing, and analyzing daily accounting functions and tasks.

Main Objectives

  • Guarantee the accuracy of financial outcomes for local legal entities. You will be accountable for preparing all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports, managing statutory filings and local tax issues, and collaborating with tax consultants for transfer pricing documentation. Ensure that the P&L and Balance Sheet comply with US GAAP, and verify the timeliness and accuracy of reconciliations conducted by shared service centers.

  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of calculations and filings related to Portuguese VAT and payroll taxes/social contributions.

  • Maintain a positive outlook, inclusive working style, and strong communication abilities as these are fundamental for this position.

  • This role necessitates effective collaboration with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Shared Services Centers to ensure seamless operations.

  • Support local management in finance and tax-related projects across various local initiatives.

  • Engage with internal and external auditors and subject matter experts regarding accounting, reporting, and tax matters.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee monthly closings and reconciliations, ensuring that all accounting transactions are executed accurately and timely.

  • Prepare and finalize statutory financial statements and group packages in alignment with local GAAP and US GAAP, collaborating closely with tax consultants and auditors.

  • Ensure compliance with all VAT and corporate tax regulations.

  • Coordinate with the shared service center for accounting and administrative matters.

  • Manage, update, and enhance all administrative-financial processes and procedures in accordance with internal audit standards.
