Nebius Managed Kubernetes (mk8s) aims to enhance the Nebius cloud platform by offering a Kubernetes-native solution for running AI systems efficiently and with minimal operational overhead. With just a click, users can deploy a Kubernetes cluster utilizing Nebius services for compute (VMs) and networking. By 2026, we anticipate scaling our services tenfold, managing customer workloads across tens of thousands of GPU servers in over 10 data centers.
As the lead of the mk8s Core team, which is one of three mk8s teams, you will be responsible for the API, the core of the service control plane, cluster autoscaling, platform integrations, and managing Kubernetes add-ons.
At Nebius, team leads are hands-on. We expect you to have a background as a senior or staff engineer and to initially contribute individually to gain context before assuming managerial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead by Example: Uphold high standards by dedicating significant time to individual contributor work, including writing and reviewing code, leading projects, and participating in on-call rotations, incident mitigation, and post-incident analysis.
- Team Management: Oversee 4-8 mid-to-senior engineers, providing context, coaching, and regular feedback.
- Technical Vision: Maintain the technical vision for your area of responsibility.
- Collaboration: Work with the Product Manager and Service Owner to shape product vision and strategic plans.
Potential Outcomes as a Team Lead
- Enhance the service control plane to efficiently manage 20,000 GPU nodes within a single Kubernetes cluster, securing a significant contract for the company.
