Qualifications

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; a Master's or PhD in a related field is highly preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in multi-physics simulation. Proven expertise in numerical modeling and dynamic simulation of complex physical systems, particularly in aerospace and mechanical domains. Advanced proficiency in developing vehicle simulations using Simulink; familiarity with MATLAB, Python, and SimScape is advantageous. Experience in model testing, linearization, and refinement in continuous integration environments. Strong technical proficiency along with effective written and verbal communication skills. Background in a dynamic design environment is essential. Preferred Qualifications:A strong passion for creating physical models that accurately correlate with bench and flight test data. Experience in modeling electric or hybrid powertrain systems. Knowledge of numerical optimization techniques. Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 33 and RTCA DO-311A regulations. Experience in utilizing simulation for certification credit. Application of system identification techniques in aerospace contexts is a plus.

Role overview

The Staff Engineer, Flight Modeling & Simulation, will focus on developing and refining simulation models that support the design, certification, and operation of Archer’s eVTOL aircraft.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop advanced flight simulation physics models tailored for eVTOL aircraft.
  • Conduct vehicle-level trade studies to inform design decisions.
  • Enhance electrical, thermal, and performance model accuracy by incorporating lab and flight test data to support vehicle certification.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external suppliers to integrate their systems into the overall vehicle simulation framework.
  • Contribute to design and analysis efforts to help meet both business and regulatory requirements with a high degree of confidence.
