In this role, you will:Lead the design and implementation of innovative Deep Learning and machine learning models to optimize human-led triaging and automate high-volume workflows. Develop General AI LLM/VLM solutions for analyzing self-driving car behaviors and detecting anomalies. Continuously monitor best practices from within Alphabet and the broader tech industry to create a Reinforcement Learning system based on human preference data collection and evaluation. Enhance user feedback analysis by collaborating with product and business teams to design and implement tools for multi-label classification, sentiment analysis, comment summarization, root cause analysis, and trend tracking of rider feedback. Oversee the production and optimization of machine learning models aimed at evaluating Waymo’s extensive vehicle fleet, which travels millions of miles. Drive the technical vision and provide guidance to the team in their initiatives. Work closely with Product Managers and Technical Program Managers to define product requirements and align technical efforts with corporate business objectives. Collaborate with various teams, including Prediction, Planning, and Research, as well as senior leadership to fulfill critical strategic initiatives.

As part of the DUE ML Core team, you will play a pivotal role in building and managing scalable machine learning and data systems, refining simulation workflows, and enhancing developer onboarding experiences. This position combines expert human insight with cutting-edge machine learning models to produce training and evaluation data for a multitude of metrics and components integral to the Waymo Driver. We seek passionate researchers and software engineers eager to advance machine learning methodologies for our autonomous vehicle evaluation systems and continuously improve the performance of our technological framework.
