About the job

Everlaw is seeking a Staff or Principal Database Engineer who will be pivotal in shaping our data infrastructure. As a rapidly expanding mid-sized SaaS organization, our focus extends beyond merely storing data; we are dedicated to ensuring that our data is highly available, scalable, and ready to drive future AI-powered features.

In this position, you will become the go-to authority on our database and storage solutions, adeptly navigating between low-level optimizations and high-level architectural design. You will have the freedom to make impactful decisions and the resources to integrate cutting-edge advancements in data infrastructure. Your leadership will guide a core team of engineers, and you will also mentor other engineers to elevate their database proficiency across the engineering division. Collaborating with a network of other experienced staff and principal engineers, you will gain insights into industry-leading practices in search technologies, cloud infrastructure, full-stack SaaS application design, data science, and performance optimization. You'll enjoy regular interactions with our Chief Technology Officer and other senior leaders, fostering a culture of innovation and growth.

Note: We value practical expertise. We are looking for someone passionate about the theory but thrives on the hands-on experience necessary to keep our production systems running seamlessly.

At Everlaw, engineering is at the heart of our mission. Our vibrant and open company culture supports the professional development of our team members, providing an annual learning and development stipend along with regular career goal discussions with managers. If you seek a workplace that values enthusiasm, integrity, ambitious thinking, and a commitment to learning, we would love to connect with you! Even if you feel you may lack some of the desired skills, we encourage you to apply if you believe you can add value to our team.

This is a full-time, exempt position requiring onsite presence (3 days each week) in Oakland, California.
