The Toast POS app serves as the backbone of our restaurant offerings, utilized daily by hundreds of thousands of servers, hosts, bartenders, and chefs to serve millions of guests. Our POS product is continually evolving, and the POS Productivity team is instrumental in driving this evolution forward.
Our mission is to simplify the development of new features for our 150+ Android engineers, enabling them to deliver high-quality solutions with confidence. Our focus is on customer satisfaction—our customers are our fellow developers, and they are just a Slack message away! We aim to empower our team to make the right choices by default.
This team oversees a wide technical landscape, including CI/CD, local developer experience, and release engineering for the POS app. Our projects encompass Android app development, Java and Kotlin Cloud services in AWS, React UIs, and more. We welcome Android engineers with expertise in mobile DevOps, CI/CD, and build and release processes.
Currently, our primary objectives include enhancing build speeds and significantly reducing time to value by optimizing build/test cycles for POS developers. We are also focused on updating our mobile app release platform to facilitate concurrent releases across multiple projects.
Your Responsibilities:
- Technical Leadership: Take ownership of the team’s domain and foster a positive, engaged engineering culture.
- Strategic Problem Solving: Identify high ROI problems to solve and align with stakeholders across the organization.
- Team Building & Mentoring: Cultivate the team and mentor engineers to enhance their technical and professional growth.
- Execution Excellence: Deliver rapid, high-quality output, utilizing AI tools to accelerate development and improve code quality.
- Metrics & Observability: Define success metrics and proactively identify ways to enhance system health.
- Collaborative Problem Solving: Work closely with the developer community, release manager, and QA functions to improve DevEx and release strategies.
