WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Act as a dedicated structural analyst to support new space hardware programs from initial concept through to launch.
- Assess and document load cases and environmental conditions.
- Conduct stress analyses to evaluate strength, lifespan, and safety margins using both fundamental and advanced analytical techniques.
- Apply first principles as a foundation for decision-making, determining the appropriate analytical level required.
- Implement hand calculations and utilize spreadsheet, MATLAB, or Python models to inform preliminary design pathways before engaging in detailed analyses.
- Create computational models and simulations to forecast dynamic environments, stress distributions, deformations, fractures, and fatigue life to adhere to design timelines.
- Collaborate with various hardware engineering disciplines, guiding design decisions based on analytical outcomes.
- Prepare technical reports and present analytical findings to internal teams, management, and external stakeholders.
- Assist in the design, instrumentation selection, execution, and data processing of tests to validate models and predictions, including static, dynamic, shock, and fatigue tests. Lead optimization studies to enhance designs and correlate models with testing data.
- Stay updated on advancements in stress analysis methodologies, material technologies, and industry standards.
- Ensure adherence to internal and external customer requirements, regulations, and best practices.
