Join Our Team as a Structural Engineer!
We are excited to invite a Structural Engineer to become a vital part of our team at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL). This full-time role is based in the scenic Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where you will contribute to groundbreaking projects.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct calculations and interpret industry codes to facilitate innovative design development.
Assist in project management for the implementation of design modifications.
Offer engineering support in the fabrication of HBRR components.
Perform structural analysis and calculations to enhance tools used for hoisting and rigging operations.
Ensure that structural specifications and drawings for HFIR are prepared in compliance with relevant DOE and industry standards.
Interpret and apply DOE Natural Phenomena Hazard codes and regulations, along with nuclear facility structural material design codes, including ASCE 4, ACI 349, and AISC N690.
Execute seismic qualifications, analyses, and evaluations as per DOE-STD-1020 and -021 and the International Building Code.
Draft detailed work package instructions to effectively document and perform tasks.
Provide technical support in the field to craft supervisors as necessary.
Ensure engineering design documents and drawings are completed and managed under RRD Configuration Management protocols.
