Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Instruction: Collaborate with instructors to implement the curriculum, aiding advanced students in mastering challenging concepts.
  • Support Students: Provide individualized assistance during class activities to ensure students are fully engaged and supported.
  • Maintain Classroom Order: Help create an organized and disciplined learning environment, managing up to 16 students effectively.
  • Grade Assignments: Assist in evaluating student work and delivering constructive feedback to promote academic improvement.
  • Build Connections: Establish rapport with students and staff to motivate and inspire their educational journeys.
  • Promote Critical Thinking: Encourage an atmosphere that nurtures curiosity and analytical skills.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum age of 16 years.
  • Strong proficiency in math and language arts, with the ability to assist students in advanced topics.
  • Experience or interest in working with younger learners is strongly preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • A positive and encouraging demeanor that fosters a comfortable learning environment.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Familiarity with the AoPS curriculum is a bonus but not mandatory.

Schedule:

  • The AoPS Academy operates as an afterschool program with classes held during evenings and weekends. Candidates must be available for weekday afternoon classes (as early as 4 PM) and/or weekend sessions.
  • This role requires a minimum commitment of approximately 3 hours per week for each assigned class.
  • Each course session lasts for 1 hour and 45 minutes, meeting once per week.

Summer Schedule:

  • In the summer, we conduct various two-week camps from June to August.
  • Camp classes occur Monday through Friday for 3 hours each day.
