Job Overview

The Supplier Quality Engineer plays a pivotal role in ensuring that all products and materials procured from suppliers adhere to the organization's stringent quality standards and specifications. This position entails overseeing supplier quality performance, executing audits and inspections, implementing corrective actions, and collaborating with both internal teams and suppliers to resolve any quality-related challenges. Additionally, the Supplier Quality Engineer will champion continuous improvement initiatives, nurture robust supplier relationships, and guarantee that quality requirements are seamlessly integrated throughout the supply chain.

Responsibilities

  • Supplier Quality Assurance: Design and execute quality assurance processes and procedures for suppliers, ensuring compliance with the company’s quality benchmarks and regulatory obligations. Monitor supplier quality performance via key metrics (e.g., defect rates, on-time delivery) and enact corrective measures as necessary.

  • Supplier Audits and Assessments: Perform routine supplier audits, assessments, and inspections to verify adherence to contractual quality obligations, regulatory standards, and internal protocols. Collaborate with suppliers to rectify any non-conformities discovered during audits.

  • Root Cause Analysis and Corrective Action: Spearhead investigations into quality issues concerning supplier materials or components. Employ root cause analysis methodologies (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA) to uncover the fundamental causes of defects or failures. Formulate and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) in partnership with suppliers.

  • Supplier Development and Collaboration: Collaborate with suppliers to enhance their quality systems, processes, and capabilities. Offer technical support and guidance on quality-related matters, promoting continuous improvement and ensuring alignment with company standards.

  • Quality Documentation and Reporting: Maintain comprehensive records of supplier quality performance, audits, corrective actions, and improvement initiatives. Generate and deliver regular reports to senior management and cross-functional teams on supplier quality metrics, trends, and performance enhancements.
