Qualifications

Requirements: U. S. citizenship is required, and candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:A) High School diploma or GED with 20 years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production, and/or testing. B) Bachelor's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with 15 years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production, and/or testing. C) Master's degree in engineering, scientific, or technical discipline with 10 years of relevant experience in Surface Radars, Electronic Warfare, EO/IR, Decoys and/or Laser software system/subsystem design, development, production, and/or testing. Desired Qualifications: Familiarity with Navy/DoD policy and guidance. Experience with System Engineering Technical Reviews. Understanding of technology readiness and technical performance measures. Knowledge of Combat Systems Integration and requirements.

About the job

Sigma Defense is hiring a Systems Engineer in Washington, DC to support Navy Above Water Sensor and Combat System projects. This position covers the full system lifecycle, from shaping early requirements through delivery and evaluation. The role involves close collaboration with government stakeholders, industry partners, and cross-functional teams.

What you will do

  • Perform engineering analyses and help develop requirements
  • Contribute to system design and participate in technical reviews
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering and digital engineering methods
  • Assist with risk management, trade studies, and technology assessments
  • Evaluate system performance and help plan testing and evaluation
  • Support modeling and simulation activities
  • Assist with cybersecurity engineering and RMF documentation
  • Provide technical input for acquisition milestones
  • Work closely with stakeholders and project teams

Location

This position is based in Washington, District of Columbia, United States.

Additional details

Employment is contingent upon the successful award of a contract. Offers will be extended once the contract is finalized.
