The Role
As a Technical Lead, you will spearhead a dynamic engineering team tasked with developing Relay's Client Experience services and the related architecture. In this dual role, you will serve as both a technical expert and a servant leader, designing compliant systems, advocating for AI-assisted development methodologies, and cultivating a team that consistently achieves exceptional outcomes. This hands-on position entails coding alongside your team for approximately 50% of the time while also providing mentorship, coordination, and technical guidance to ensure continuous progress.
The ideal candidate will significantly contribute to our Engineering efforts, collaborating closely with Platform/DevOps, Product leadership, and other Engineering architects to uphold the integrity and ongoing scalability of our software stack while influencing our technical trajectory.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Establish architectural and engineering standards for secure, compliant, full-stack systems, particularly focusing on our Feed and Relay Messenger products.
- Lead both Greenfield projects and the enhancement of existing solutions.
- Develop and refine distributed, message-driven workflows to ensure reliability, performance, and cloud cost efficiency.
- Implement effective AI-first and AI-assisted development practices.
- Team Development
- Mentor engineers at all levels to elevate team capabilities through coaching, feedback, and recruitment.
- Collaborate with the Engineering Manager to enhance team performance.
- Promote a culture of inclusivity and trust that values collaboration and innovation.
