THE POSITION
Saildrone is looking for a Technical Lead Manager for our Build Systems Engineering team. In this role, you will report to the Director of Software and be tasked with designing, implementing, and maintaining our software build systems using Bazel. Your goal will be to ensure reliable and efficient build processes for our software projects. Collaborating closely with development teams, DevOps engineers, and various stakeholders, you will optimize our build systems to accelerate the software development and release cycles. This position will involve a combination of hands-on development and leadership responsibilities, overseeing a small engineering team (1-2 individual contributors) to successfully execute a roadmap that aligns with broader software teams and business goals.
This role requires you to be onsite in Alameda, CA, three days a week as part of our hybrid model. Remote work is not an option.
THE TEAM
The Software Infrastructure & Platform Engineering team is responsible for the systems and tools that enable Saildrone's software teams to build, test, and deploy reliable software at scale. Our focus is on creating robust build and release pipelines that support autonomous systems operating in challenging and high-stakes maritime environments. The work of this team directly influences Saildrone's ability to provide real-time intelligence, maritime domain awareness, and critical capabilities for both government and commercial clients.
