About the job
Anduril Industries develops advanced defense technology for the U. S. and allied militaries, integrating modern software and hardware to enhance military systems. Their core platform, Lattice OS, uses AI to transform complex data into a real-time 3D command and control environment. The company delivers autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking solutions on accelerated timelines compared to traditional defense contractors.
The Space team brings Anduril’s AI-driven capabilities to the domain of outer space. This group supports Space Domain Awareness, Space Control, and Command and Control for military and allied partners. Projects include building integrated hardware and software systems, such as Lattice for Space Missions and modular payloads, to help maintain an edge in a contested space environment.
Role overview
The Tracking Software Engineer - Space, based in Costa Mesa, CA, develops advanced 2D and 3D tracking algorithms for monitoring objects in space. The role focuses on turning sensor detections and messages into actionable tracks to support space situational awareness. Responsibilities include designing and implementing multi-target tracking systems, applying state estimation and data association techniques, and building physics-based models to assess performance. Collaboration with other software teams is essential to integrate these algorithms into operational systems.
This work addresses complex challenges such as clutter, maneuvering targets, contested sensing environments, and real-time operational constraints. The position requires strong knowledge of tracking algorithms, state estimation (including Kalman filtering), data association methods (such as JPDA and MHT), and proficiency with MATLAB, Python, and C++. Experience with modeling and simulation is also important.
Main responsibilities
- Conduct systems engineering and algorithm development for space and missile defense tracking projects.
- Design and implement object tracking and state estimation algorithms, covering track initiation, maintenance, correlation, and termination.
- Develop and evaluate multi-target tracking and multi-sensor fusion strategies for EO/IR, RF, or hybrid sensor systems.
- Apply advanced data association methods, including JPDA and related techniques.
