Role overview

The Transportation Planner will join the Planning and Design team in Los Angeles, California. This position supports projects across the United States, Canada, and internationally. Candidates should bring experience in project management, behavior change analysis, market segmentation analysis, and stated preference surveys.

Collaboration is central to this role. The Transportation Planner will work closely with planners, economists, designers, financial modelers, and technical specialists to deliver solutions for clients in the transportation sector.

What you will do

  • Work with colleagues to conceptualize, develop, and deliver client projects in multimodal planning, regional planning, travel demand management (TDM), and equitable and sustainable mobility.
  • Example projects may include:
    • Identifying transit needs and prioritizing investments for California’s state highway system
    • Developing a Smart City Strategic Plan for Southern California
    • Assessing service options for new bus rapid transit (BRT) routes in New Jersey
    • Evaluating the economic impact of rail systems in economically distressed regions
    • Reviewing and updating program requirements for major transit agencies
  • Manage your own work and, at times, oversee the work of others to meet budget and quality standards
  • Support the Planning & Design practice through client engagement, business development, and proposal preparation
