About the job
About SE3 Labs
SE3 Labs works at the intersection of 3D computer vision and large language models, building Spatial AI that understands and navigates physical environments. The team is focused on creating the hardware platforms needed for this technology, starting with advanced UAVs. Their work spans applications from construction to intelligent infrastructure and defense.
Role Overview
The UAV Test Pilot will operate and evaluate SE3 Labs’ autonomous drone fleet at a dedicated test site 35km from Munich. This role involves piloting new drone and payload prototypes, collaborating closely with engineers, and providing feedback that shapes future product development. The pilot’s work directly influences the reliability and performance of next-generation robotic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and launch: Work with the team to assemble, integrate, and fine-tune new airframes and payloads, ensuring each system is ready for flight.
- Fly and evaluate: Carry out structured test flights across multiple platforms, including quadcopters, fixed-wing drones, and eVTOL systems.
- Stress testing: Simulate realistic field scenarios to uncover performance limits, failure points, and reliability issues.
- Product improvement: Spot bugs and design flaws, then collaborate with engineers to enhance system durability and performance.
- Demonstration and training: Present drone systems to partners and users at the test site and during field visits across Europe.
Your Profile
- Completed technical apprenticeship or training in a relevant field.
- Significant hands-on experience building, tuning, repairing, and flying drones, whether professionally, through military service, or as an advanced FPV enthusiast or builder.
- Strong familiarity with Q Ground Control, Ardupilot, or PX4.
- Methodical and diligent approach to flight operations.
Location
Work is based at an undisclosed test site 35km from Munich. Some travel within Europe may be required for demonstrations and field operations.
