Language Empire is urgently seeking freelance Tamil interpreters based in Durham to provide essential interpreting services in various environments, including the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation Services, and other public and private organizations.
Founded in 2001, Language Empire has been delivering professional interpreting and translation services throughout the UK for over two decades, covering a wide array of languages and dialects. If you are fluent in Tamil and English and are interested in making a significant impact in sectors such as healthcare, public service, and more, this is the perfect role for you!
We are currently looking for:
- Face-to-Face Interpreters
- Telephone Interpreters
- Video Interpreters
- Translators
Please note that this is a self-employed position.
The Role:
As an interpreter, your responsibilities will include listening to, comprehending, and accurately conveying messages from the 'source' language into the 'target' language.
Your key duties will involve:
- Interpreting for clients accessing legal, health, and local government services
- Ensuring that non-English speakers fully understand after each interpreted segment
- Providing conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting
- Handling highly confidential information with discretion
- Facilitating communication between service users and providers
Requirements:
- Fluency in English and Tamil
- Right to work in the UK is mandatory for all applicants
- Minimum age: 21 years
- Preferred qualifications include:
- Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
- Community Interpreting qualifications
- NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration is advantageous
- Degree in Translation, Interpreting, or Languages
- Any other relevant interpreting qualifications
