The Role
Mach Industries is on the lookout for a talented Vehicle Configuration Design Engineer to spearhead the configuration development of cutting-edge unmanned aerial systems (UAS) in support of our advanced defense initiatives. This position involves taking high-performance airframes from initial mission requirements to flight-ready prototypes. The role demands technical precision, design leadership, and a comprehensive understanding of aerospace engineering across various disciplines.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of UAS vehicle configurations at both the conceptual and preliminary design stages, ensuring integration of inputs across all engineering disciplines.
- Take ownership of creating CAD models and engineering drawings for the overall vehicle, including the outer mold line (OML).
- Conduct cross-disciplinary trade studies to optimize weight, performance, modularity, and manufacturability.
- Collaborate with engineering, flight test, manufacturing, and supply chain teams to assess and implement design modifications.
- Effectively present trade studies, risks, and solutions to internal teams and external stakeholders.
