THE PROGRAM

The Veterinary Technician Student Externship Program at VEG is designed to support the growth of aspiring veterinary technicians. This hands-on externship provides an immersive experience in emergency medicine alongside our experienced, credentialed emergency veterinary technicians.

As a participant, you will not only observe but actively engage in the emergency care process. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions, practice new techniques, and immerse yourself in all facets of emergency veterinary care, from patient triage to diagnostics and inpatient care. This is your chance to lay a strong foundation for your career and be inspired by the impactful work we do at VEG.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Learn from top professionals in the emergency veterinary field.
  • Work closely with a credentialed emergency veterinary technician for real-time mentorship and hands-on learning.
  • Shadow and assist with triage, diagnostics, outpatient visits, anesthesia, inpatient care, and more.
  • Develop skills aligned with your school’s proficiency requirements with guidance and support.
