PRIMARY OBJECTIVE:
The Voice and Data Engineer is responsible for ensuring the technical integrity of all telecommunications infrastructure, including Data (WANs, LANs, MANs, and low-speed data), voice (PBX, voicemail, conference bridges, and radio networks), video conferencing, and problem resolution for IXC, LEC, and CLEC. This role requires a high level of technical expertise across various infrastructure domains. Responsibilities include the installation, scheduled maintenance, and troubleshooting of all telecommunications equipment and networks within a designated geographical area. The selected candidate will act as the lead for various activities and serve as a direct point of contact for customers within the IT process.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Install, maintain, repair, and operate network infrastructure, including:
- Local Area Network equipment
- Wide Area Networking equipment and circuits
- Telephone systems such as PBX, hybrid key systems, and non-KSU systems
- Voice processing and computerized telephone technology
- Microwave radio equipment
- VHF/UHF radio equipment, mobile cellular phones, and paging infrastructure
- Video teleconferencing equipment
- Fiber optic cable systems
- UPS systems, both AC and DC
- Other electronic equipment as required
- Act as PBX and voicemail administrator
- Collaborate with telecommunications companies and personnel for installation and repair of telephone circuits
- Work with project coordinators on telecommunications capital projects
- Ensure compliance with FCC guidelines for microwave and radio systems
- Provide first-level client PC support
- Offer technical support for engineering and other departments
- Assist in the operation and repair of SCADA and electronic measurement systems
- Collaborate with central network personnel to configure routers, hubs, and channel banks
- Build infrastructure cabling systems using both fiber and metallic mediums.
