About the Role:

To achieve our expansive vision, we are seeking a Wireless Software Engineer who will innovate and redefine wireless communication for autonomous drones navigating complex, interference-prone, long-range environments. This hands-on position involves working directly with chipsets, delving into low-level firmware, and crafting software to enhance range, reliability, and the quality of video streams in challenging conditions where standard WiFi falls short. Your Impact:
Contribute significantly to advancing Skydio’s wireless capabilities, ensuring enhanced connectivity, security, and range.
Engage in the development of an innovative communication protocol designed for superior mesh drone communication.
Design and implement cutting-edge solutions for reliable drone communication within an OFDMA-based mesh framework.
Develop and optimize wireless software and firmware across WLAN, LTE, and 5G networks to improve connectivity and robustness.
Implement and validate system-level algorithms to achieve performance KPIs in dynamic and congested network settings.
Qualifications:
Deep understanding of WLAN and/or cellular protocols, with knowledge of OFDMA, mesh networking, and scheduled network operations.
Experience in firmware development complemented by a solid grasp of wireless communication systems.
Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, C, and Python.
Strong software engineering skills are essential, with a focus on problem-solving and innovative thinking.
