We are a dynamic, cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers dedicated to creating exceptional mobile experiences. As part of our team, you’ll play a vital role in expanding into new industries, bridging the gap between web and mobile platforms, and simplifying digital commerce for small businesses globally. About the Role As a Senior Backend Engineer within the Bifrost team, you will be instrumental in the development of SumUp's key merchant-facing online products. You will contribute to the growth and scalability of pivotal products such as Payment Links, Virtual Terminal, and Unified Gift Cards, while also enhancing integration products that deliver essential functionalities across various SumUp services. We seek a developer who champions reliability, collaboration, and continuous improvement. You will thrive in a high-impact environment where your contributions directly enhance merchant success and team scalability. Your Responsibilities Ensure redundancy for the scalability and continuous enhancement of SumUp’s high-priority online products. Contribute to the implementation, growth, and integration of Online Checkouts across SumUp. Engage actively in planning and review sessions at both quarterly and sprint levels, providing constructive feedback and accurate estimations. Monitor existing services and perform necessary fixes to maintain platform reliability. Implement new features with maintainable and testable code. Optimize application performance for improved scalability. Participate in code reviews to uphold high standards of code quality. You Will Excel in This Role If: You possess over 5 years of experience in backend engineering, specifically with Golang. You demonstrate a strong grasp of fundamental system architecture, design principles, data modeling, and API design. You have substantial experience with distributed and fault-tolerant systems. You are passionate about continuous learning and improvement.
