About the Role
We are seeking a seasoned Database Support Engineer to become a vital part of our Support Team. You will assist developers in resolving intricate issues, enhancing build reliability, and maximizing the benefits of the Supabase platform. Collaborating closely with clients and our engineering team, you will contribute to improving product quality and elevating the overall developer experience based on real-world feedback.

Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and rectify complex customer issues across Postgres, Auth, RLS, Storage, Realtime, Edge Functions, and client libraries.
- Offer consultative, proactive recommendations to optimize workloads, prevent common mistakes, and provide tailored guidance to our advanced users.
- Reproduce bugs, identify root causes, suggest workarounds, and escalate issues to engineering with detailed reproduction steps.
- Pose insightful, targeted questions that transform incomplete reports into actionable cases.
- Engage empathetically and clearly with customers of all technical levels, particularly during critical or time-sensitive scenarios.
- Identify trends across support tickets and propose enhancements to documentation, tools, and the product itself.
- Mentor junior team members and elevate the overall support quality.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- You possess over 6 years of experience in technical support, backend engineering, SRE, or a related field.
- You have an in-depth understanding of PostgreSQL, including autovacuum behavior, WAL growth, long-running transactions, table bloat, and other internal mechanisms.
- You exhibit proficiency in high-performance SQL and query optimization.
- You are adept at troubleshooting complex environments, including multi-tenant schema architectures.
- You can debug edge functions and comprehend distributed system dynamics when failures occur.
- You have experience with data migration challenges (pg_dump/restore, schema drift, failed migrations) and have effectively managed them.
