We are the preferred partner for organizations devoted to advancing health equity.Position OverviewWe seek a dedicated Senior Software Engineer I (L3) for our Messaging Team. In this role, you will lead the technical direction of CareMessage's messaging platform, a critical system facilitating patient communication for over 400 safety-net healthcare organizations in the U.S. You will independently manage complex feature development from inception to deployment, mentor fellow engineers, and contribute to architectural decisions that influence our messaging infrastructure's design and scalability.This position is highly collaborative, with shared leadership responsibilities. You will work closely with Product, Customer Success, and Engineering teams to create and implement messaging features that enhance patient engagement and improve health outcomes, while having full ownership of technical decisions and customer-facing system behaviors. You will report directly to the Director of Engineering and play a vital role in advancing our messaging capabilities as we grow.Candidate ProfileYou are an experienced backend engineer who excels in dynamic, fully distributed environments. You have extensive experience with Ruby on Rails and large-scale messaging systems, and you take pride in developing robust, patient-centric communication infrastructures. You are motivated by the challenges of delivery optimization, consent management, and AI-driven messaging, and possess the technical leadership skills to mentor your colleagues.Your approach is scientific; you base your decisions on evidence rather than intuition, actively seeking data that challenges your assumptions before reaching conclusions. You contribute to Product Requirement Documents (PRDs), documentation, and internal wikis with this analytical mindset, using data to inform decisions and validate your contributions.
