About the job
Join Our Innovative Team
At Taara, a pioneering initiative born from Google’s Moonshot Factory, we aim to bridge the digital divide by connecting billions of people to affordable, high-speed internet through innovative optical communication technologies. Our mission is to revolutionize connectivity using advanced light-based methods that deliver faster, more reliable internet access.
As part of our multidisciplinary team of experts in optics, software, and hardware, you will have the opportunity to tackle significant connectivity challenges globally and create impactful tools. If you are passionate about solving real-world problems and making a difference, we welcome your application.
Your Role as an FPGA Intern
In this role, you will act as a vital link between high-level control algorithms and physical hardware. You will design and implement digital gateware to process high-speed sensor data in real time. This position involves hands-on work in the lab, integrating sensors and actuators with FPGAs to validate your designs.
Your contributions will significantly impact the development of Taara’s next-generation Free Space Optical products, enhancing algorithms for precise laser pointing over long distances and correcting signal distortions to ensure robust, fiberless connectivity.
How You Will Make a 10X Impact
Accelerate Computation: Utilize high-performance FPGAs to enhance interfaces and algorithms beyond software capabilities.
Verify and Simulate: Create comprehensive testbeds to validate designs through simulations, ensuring reliability and minimizing debugging time.
Iterate and Prototype: Produce clean, well-documented designs that transition from experimental phases to practical field solutions.
Integrate Systems: Collaborate closely with hardware and software teams to embed your solutions within the overall Taara system architecture.
