NEXTDC is seeking a dedicated individual to join our Facilities team as a Data Centre Technician, operating on a 24/7 schedule. This entry-level position offers comprehensive on-the-job training in various aspects of data center facility management and critical infrastructure, including Cooling, Electrical Systems, Cabling Infrastructure, Building Monitoring, and Fire Safety Systems.
Based in Artarmon, the primary objective of this role is to assist the Facility Management team with the daily operations of our data centre, ensuring high-quality technical maintenance and exceptional customer service.
- The successful candidate must be able to work a rotating shift roster of 4 – 5 – 5, with day shifts from 7 AM to 7 PM and night shifts from 7 PM to 7 AM.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Delivering cabling requirements, both electrical and data, to client racks and designated areas.
- Responding to Remote Hands service requests.
- Supporting vendor management for the maintenance of all core electrical and mechanical systems.
- Identifying and resolving facility issues promptly.
- Monitoring building management and monitoring systems around the clock, escalating issues internally or to vendors as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with NEXTDC facility rules by visitors and contractors.
- Performing manual handling tasks as necessary.
This position focuses less on IT and more on hands-on facility management, involving practical tasks and operational responsibilities.
Occasional travel between sites may be required during shifts.
