About the job

Join Our Team as an Actuary

At Hinge Health, we invite you to transform clinical innovation into tangible financial impact. As we evolve from a wellness benefit to a comprehensive medical insurance product centered on value-based care, your expertise will serve as a vital link among our Clinical Research, Finance, and Commercial teams. Your insights will help articulate the economic benefits of our digital musculoskeletal (MSK) solutions, convincing even the most discerning health plan actuaries and securing crucial 'at-risk' contracts.

You will be the primary actuarial authority in high-stakes negotiations with BUCA plans, ACOs, and Integrated Health Systems, defending our ROI methodologies and crafting financial frameworks that enable Hinge Health to engage in shared-risk agreements, ultimately broadening access to care for millions.

Your Objectives

In the first 3 months, you will:

  • Establish yourself as the actuarial subject matter expert for the Commercial team by taking part in 3-5 finalist meetings with potential health plans.

  • Evaluate and enhance our existing Business Case Analysis (BCA) framework to align with industry-leading actuarial standards.

  • Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders across Clinical Research, Finance, Customer Success, and Sales to leverage actuarial insights for deal acceleration.

In the first 6 months, you will:

  • Lead methodology negotiations with at least two significant health plan actuarial teams, establishing consensus on ROI validation frameworks that safeguard Hinge Health's interests while fostering client trust.

  • Analyze financial risks associated with 'at-risk' contracts, setting up reserves and pricing structures for shared-savings initiatives.

  • Deliver tailored BCAs for high-priority prospects utilizing claims data, industry benchmarks, and external trend data, directly aiding in the closure of contracts valued at over $5 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR).

In the first year, you will:

  • Take ownership of the actuarial strategy for Hinge Health's transition to value-based care, designing risk-transfer models and VBC contracting terms that balance growth with fiscal responsibility.

  • Standardize our Enhanced Claims Data Analysis (CDA) process, establishing data prerequisites and analytical frameworks that demonstrate hard-dollar savings to our largest clients.

  • Develop and present training sessions such as 'VBC 101' and an 'Actuarial Playbook' to share knowledge across the organization.
