Job Summary:
The Airworthiness Engineer (Qualification / Certification) is responsible for overseeing formal qualification and regulatory compliance testing activities for both standard and custom hardware and software systems. This professional will create procedures to demonstrate product compliance and participate in evaluating test equipment necessary to confirm product performance during qualification tests. The Airworthiness Engineer will also assist in the design and modification of test fixtures. This role involves ensuring that all aspects of product and system-level qualification adhere to relevant airworthiness requirements and regulations, including delivering substantiation data for clients such as Airbus, Boeing, and STC. Furthermore, this position includes mentoring junior engineers in the qualification domain.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Design and Software teams to identify essential support equipment for effective performance verification during formal qualification testing.
- Actively represent the qualification team in design development meetings, including Preliminary Design Review (PDR) and Critical Design Review (CDR).
- Review and approve technical documentation related to Qualification Procedures and Qualification Test Reports to ensure product compliance with established standards.
- Work independently alongside the design team to uphold the qualification strategy.
- Facilitate contract execution with third-party laboratories to ensure access to resources, testing facilities, and regulatory agency collaboration.
- Oversee, coordinate, and manage activities related to the execution of formal qualification test programs, including:
- Test schedule management (chronological order of test activities).
- Setup and integration of test laboratories and support equipment.
- Coordination with regulatory authorities regarding the execution of formal qualification testing.
- Regular status reporting.
- As a Subject Matter Expert (SME), conduct necessary research, including root cause analysis, to support the development and release of a Failure Reporting and Corrective Action (FRACA) documenting test failure conditions and recovery plans.
- Master Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), Environmental (ENV), and Structural (STR) testing requirements and troubleshooting techniques.
- Professionally represent the company while interfacing with the FAA, Boeing, Airbus, and company suppliers.
