About the Position

Mistral AI is actively seeking Applied Scientists with profound expertise in engineering sciences to explore the cutting-edge realm of AI-accelerated simulation. In this role, you will collaborate with industrial partners and our internal research teams to develop and implement AI Physics Models, complementing our existing suite of Large Language Models (LLMs).

As a key contributor across the entire development stack, your responsibilities will include curating high-fidelity simulation datasets, training and assessing models, and delivering production-grade AI solutions directly to engineering teams. Areas of focus encompass computational fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, semiconductor design, multi-physics modeling, and digital twins.

You will work collaboratively with research, product, and customer-facing teams to ensure that our models not only meet engineering standards but excel beyond mere benchmark metrics.

Your Responsibilities

• Design and execute large-scale simulation campaigns utilizing domain-specific solvers (e.g., OpenFOAM, ANSYS, COMSOL, Abaqus).
• Train AI models on physics data, conducting thorough evaluations of coverage, accuracy, and quality against industry validation benchmarks.
• Create tools and frameworks for automated dataset generation, simulation pipeline management, and model evaluation.
• Develop agents and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems that integrate LLMs with engineering simulation workflows.
• Collaborate closely with the research team during training runs and troubleshoot any issues related to data gaps or architectural limitations.
• Oversee research projects and maintain communications with engineering teams.

Your Profile

• Proficient in English with outstanding communication skills - capable of articulating technical simulation concepts to both engineering and non-engineering stakeholders.
