The Chief Building Engineer plays a pivotal role in leading the Engineering team while overseeing all aspects of building maintenance, repair, and operations. This ensures not only tenant satisfaction but also promotes safety and enhances building efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Direct and manage building maintenance operations, covering HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
- Analyze and monitor building energy usage for optimal efficiency.
- Supervise contractor activities and oversee tenant improvement projects.
- Develop budgets, and manage inventory and purchasing processes.
- Lead, train, and assess Engineering staff; set and implement performance goals and developmental plans.
- Engage collaboratively with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure seamless building operations and resolve tenant concerns.
- Coordinate with vendors to establish scopes of work while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections to verify the efficient operation of systems; maintain thorough documentation and logs related to building equipment and compliance.
- Adhere to company safety protocols, including the use of appropriate PPE; ensure compliance with OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations; manage safety protocols including lockout/tagout procedures; report safety hazards; participate in safety inspections; facilitate safety training for staff.
- Effectively communicate in both verbal and written forms with teammates, leadership, vendors, tenants, and client employees, keeping all relevant parties informed.
- Perform additional duties as required.
