Qualifications:High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. Minimum of ten years of relevant industry experience or equivalent certification/training. At least five years in a supervisory role, including experience with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions. CFC Certification preferred; must possess engineering and trade licenses as required by local, state, or national regulations. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, energy management software, CMMS, and other operational platforms. Willingness to travel daily to various properties as required. Advanced knowledge of HVAC, BAS, fire protection, and life safety systems. Exceptional troubleshooting, capital budgeting, and energy management skills.

About the job

The Chief Building Engineer is responsible for leading our Engineering team, overseeing all aspects of building maintenance, repair, and operations. This role is pivotal in ensuring high tenant satisfaction, safety, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all building maintenance operations, including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Monitor and optimize building energy usage to ensure efficient operations.
  • Manage contractor work and direct tenant improvement projects.
  • Develop and manage budgets, including inventory control and purchasing.
  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate engineering staff; create performance goals and development plans.
  • Engage with tenants, contractors, and property managers to ensure reliable operations and resolve tenant issues.
  • Collaborate with vendors to define scopes of work and enforce compliance with contracts.
  • Conduct routine inspections to verify system efficiency; maintain detailed documentation and compliance logs.
  • Adhere to safety protocols, enforce OSHA, NEC, NFC, NFPA regulations, and oversee safety training.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leadership, vendors, and tenants, providing necessary updates.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
