Over 10 years of experience in soft goods manufacturing and sourcing in China. A robust network of vetted soft goods factories—able to mobilize resources effectively. Expert understanding of flat knit and circular knit construction—capable of evaluating factory capabilities and diagnosing production challenges. Proficient in interpreting and translating complex tech packs into actionable factory processes. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English—able to engage proactively with a remote Canadian headquarters team. Willingness and ability to travel as needed.

About the Role

As we broaden our product offerings, we seek a dedicated China Sourcing and Product Development Specialist to actively represent our interests on the ground in China. This role extends beyond mere quality control and sourcing; it requires a profound understanding of our product vision and the ability to make informed decisions independently. You will manage the complete supplier relationship lifecycle, from identifying and nurturing factory partnerships to sourcing components and ensuring that every product shipped from China adheres to our rigorous standards. A deep comprehension of our products and effective representation of our vision are crucial for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

  1. New Factory Development
    • Identify, assess, and onboard new manufacturing partners throughout China.
    • Conduct capability evaluations and negotiate pricing, minimum order quantities (MOQs), lead times, and contract terms.
    • Establish and maintain a vetted supplier network across key manufacturing regions.
  2. Sourcing and Production Management
    • Ensure compliance with tech packs, confirm that factories fully understand specifications and adhere to them without excuses.
    • Implement processes to enforce and verify compliance at every production stage.
    • Source materials and components for new product lines as needed.
  3. Quality Control and Auditing
    • Conduct regular on-site factory inspections to assess quality at pre-production, in-line, and final stages.
    • Develop and enforce audit protocols and ensure adherence on-site.
    • Take ownership of corrective actions when standards fall short and maintain a quality control scorecard across the supplier network.
  4. Product Vision Translation
    • Thoroughly understand the rationale behind each product we develop, not just the specifications.
    • Clearly communicate our product objectives to factory partners to ensure alignment with our goals.
    • Make informed decisions on the ground without needing to consult our Canadian headquarters for every choice.
