ABOUT THE LUCAS MUSEUM OF NARRATIVE ART
Set to open in September 2026, the Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is dedicated to the art of illustrated storytelling. Founded by George Lucas and Mellody Hobson, the museum hosts an impressive collection featuring works from renowned artists such as Norman Rockwell, Kadir Nelson, Jessie Willcox Smith, N. C. Wyeth, Beatrix Potter, Judith F. Baca, Frida Kahlo, and Maxfield Parrish. It also celebrates comic art legends like Winsor McCay, Jack Kirby, Frank Frazetta, Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, and R. Crumb, alongside iconic photographers including Gordon Parks, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Dorothea Lange. Additionally, the museum houses the Lucas Archives, showcasing models, props, concept art, and costumes from Lucas’s extensive filmmaking career.
 
Designed by the acclaimed Ma Yansong of MAD and landscaped by Mia Lehrer of Studio-MLA, the museum is located in Exposition Park, Los Angeles, on an expansive 11-acre campus that features new green spaces and a 300,000-square-foot building, complete with galleries, two theaters, a library, a restaurant, café, retail store, and community spaces.
 

POSITION SUMMARY
The Lucas Museum of Narrative Art is looking for a dedicated Collections Systems Administrator to oversee the management of the museum’s collections management database (The Museum System (TMS)) and digital asset management system (NetX). This role involves providing both back-end and front-end user support to museum staff. As part of the Registration Department, you will act as the primary liaison with various stakeholders, ensuring that art and image data are effectively managed. You will establish workflows that enhance data accessibility and quality, focusing on completeness, accuracy, and inclusivity, while promoting TMS and NetX as vital repositories for the most current institutional information and assets. Working closely with the Registration team, you will be responsible for the functionality, standards, and protocols of collection systems, coordinating logistics for major TMS and DAM-related projects such as database upgrades, collection inventories, and interdepartmental workflows. Your role will also involve developing and monitoring systems and metadata standards that align with national cultural object documentation standards.
 
This position reports to the Head of Registration and includes supervising contractual assistants and related vendors.
