I. About MSF International
Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is a globally recognized, independent medical humanitarian organization dedicated to providing emergency assistance to individuals affected by armed conflict, epidemics, healthcare exclusion, and natural disasters. MSF's support is based solely on need, regardless of race, religion, gender, or political affiliation. MSF International serves as the legal entity that unifies MSF's 24 sections, 28 associations, and 19 branch offices. Based in Switzerland, MSF International plays a pivotal role in coordinating efforts, disseminating information, and supporting the MSF Movement, while also executing international projects and initiatives as required.
II. Position Overview
The procurement of products and services is a fundamental aspect of MSF's operations, accounting for roughly half of its total expenditures. In recent years, MSF has significantly enhanced its procurement function, leading to the establishment of the Global Procurement Unit (GPU). The GPU's primary objective is to optimize procurement processes while improving compliance, efficiency, and risk management.
Located within the MSF International Office, the GPU is responsible for formulating global procurement strategies, coordinating procurement efforts across the organization, and fostering the development of procurement capabilities in all MSF entities to effectively support MSF's humanitarian mission.
III. Role within the Organization
As a member of the Global Procurement Unit, the Intersectional Procurement Advisor will:
Report directly to the Head of Global Field Procurement.
Collaborate closely with Field Procurement teams, supply and logistics coordinators, Heads of Missions, and other mission coordinators, as well as GPU team members.
Engage with various stakeholders within the MSF movement.
IV. Position Objectives
The primary aim of this role is to bolster procurement activities in the field and promote the implementation of procurement best practices that are relevant, efficient, and align with the global needs of MSF.
