More information is available at www.newflyer.com. Role overview This mid-level Battery Service Technician position is based in Auburn Hills, Michigan. The role centers on troubleshooting and servicing complex battery systems, both in the Auburn Hills service lab and at customer locations. Regular interaction with customers, the New Flyer Service team, and field service technicians is expected. Serving as a technical point of contact, the technician communicates clearly with both external and internal teams. Main responsibilities Service XALT batteries and related components in the Auburn Hills battery service lab. Investigate field application and integration issues, either on-site or remotely. Analyze service and vehicle data to support diagnostic efforts. Respond to technical questions from customers about New Flyer products. Collaborate with Engineering, Production, and Lead technicians to identify root causes of service problems. Adhere to company objectives and industry safety and quality standards, including ISO26262, IEC61508, and QS9003. Requirements Associate degree in a technical field or at least two years of relevant experience. Experience using battery interface tools such as CANalyzer, CANoe, or CAPL. Familiarity with Energy Storage Systems or Power Cyclers is an advantage. Ability to analyze data for pass/fail criteria. Comfort working with live high voltage systems (up to 1000V). Understanding of lithium-ion battery safety and high voltage handling practices. Hands-on skills with field and lab equipment, including multimeters, high voltage PPE, oscilloscopes, function generators, and logic analyzers. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with effective interpersonal abilities. Experience working with complex electronic and mechanical systems. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint. Benefits Respectful workplace culture. Safety is a top priority.
