About the job
AECOM is actively seeking a skilled Senior Construction Quality Auditor to join our team in the Baltimore, MD office, focusing on the B&P Tunnel Replacement (BPTR) Program, along with various other projects at AECOM.
As the delivery partner for Amtrak on the BPTR Program, we are tasked with upgrading a ten-mile stretch of the Northeast Corridor (NEC), which is the most heavily trafficked passenger rail line in America. This initiative will encompass the development of new roadway and railroad bridges, state-of-the-art rail systems and tracks, and the construction of a new ADA-compliant West Baltimore MARC station. Our team plays a vital role in supporting Amtrak by overseeing the comprehensive scope of this program, which includes program management, design oversight, construction oversight, commissioning oversight, program controls, commercial management, and capacity building.
The Construction Quality Auditor is essential in ensuring that all construction activities align with contract stipulations, technical specifications, Amtrak standards, and federal regulations (FTA, FRA) while complying with Build America, Buy America (BABA) and Cargo Act provisions. This position is field-focused and involves conducting independent audits and surveillance to confirm that “Construction Manager at Risk” (CMAR) contractors and subcontractors are implementing effective quality control measures and producing compliant work.
Operating from both the Integrated Project Office (IPO) and various construction sites across Baltimore, you will collaborate closely with the Quality Lead and Quality Team. Your responsibilities will include identifying trends, documenting deficiencies, tracking corrective actions, and providing objective evaluations of construction quality and compliance.
The ideal candidate will possess experience in conducting quality audits or inspections on large-scale infrastructure, transit, or rail programs. This role demands significant field presence, meticulous attention to detail, the ability to identify both negative and positive trends, and the capacity to communicate findings impartially to program leadership and contractor teams. Proficiency in navigating evolving construction sites and wearing all necessary Personal Protective Equipment is essential for this position.
