At PsiQuantum, we are on a mission to create the first truly functional quantum computers, devices that can achieve the revolutionary advancements that have long been anticipated in the field. Founded in 2016, our primary objective is to develop and implement million-qubit, fault-tolerant quantum systems.
Quantum computers utilize the principles of quantum mechanics to tackle challenges that even the most powerful supercomputers or AI technologies cannot resolve. Their transformative potential extends across various industries, including energy, pharmaceuticals, finance, agriculture, transportation, materials, and more.
Our architectural framework is rooted in silicon photonics. By collaborating with advanced semiconductor manufacturing partners, such as GlobalFoundries, we leverage high-volume processes that already produce billions of chips for telecommunications and consumer electronics. Photonics presents inherent advantages for scalability: photons are immune to heat, resistant to electromagnetic interference, and compatible with existing cryogenic cooling systems and standard fiber-optic networks.
In 2024, PsiQuantum announced government-supported initiatives aimed at constructing our first utility-scale quantum computers in Brisbane, Australia, and Chicago, Illinois. These projects signify a growing acknowledgment of quantum computing's potential to be strategically and economically pivotal, making this the ideal time for expansion.
Additionally, PsiQuantum is committed to developing the algorithms and software essential for rendering these systems commercially viable. Our application, software, and industry teams collaborate directly with leading Fortune 500 companies, including Lockheed Martin, Mercedes-Benz, Boehringer Ingelheim, and Mitsubishi Chemical, to prepare quantum solutions for impactful real-world applications.
