About the job
About Our Company
Join avomind, an innovative robotics startup that is transforming the manufacturing landscape with cutting-edge robotic automation. Our mission is to develop sophisticated systems that redefine physical intelligence, enhance robotic dexterity, optimize data collection, and improve manufacturing economics. We conduct our hardware R&D in our state-of-the-art factories in Vietnam, creating a seamless loop of design, iteration, and deployment. Our hardware is designed for active factory environments, focusing on durability, serviceability, and uptime, ensuring our systems can withstand the rigors of human interaction and industrial settings.
Position Overview
- Location: Initially based in Vietnam for the first 12–24 months during R&D and deployment; long-term location (U. S., Europe, or Asia) to be determined collaboratively by the engineering team.
- Stage: Early hardware development, transitioning from first prototype to repeatable systems.
- Reports to: Co-founder / CTO.
- Core Responsibilities: Take ownership of the physical execution and implementation of dexterous robotic hardware, evolving from handheld data collection devices to bimanual robotic arms, through hands-on building, testing, and iterating in real manufacturing environments.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Founding Robotics Hardware Architect.
Your Role
As a pivotal member of our early hardware team, you will transform innovative concepts into robust realities, maintaining a tight build-test-learn process across:
- Handheld data collection gripper
- Actuated versions of the gripper
- Bimanual robotic manipulation systems with 6-DoF motion
Your role will be deeply hands-on, primarily on the factory floor, collaborating closely with the Founding Hardware Architect to construct, test, refine, and enhance hardware through craftsmanship and real-world feedback, adapting designs as necessary to meet practical challenges.
Join us in redefining manufacturing through innovative hardware execution, with significant ownership and collaboration in a fast-paced environment.
Collaboration Model
You will work as a peer with the Founding Robotics Hardware Architect, sharing early development responsibilities across both architecture and implementation. While your focus may differ (coherence vs. execution), the goal of delivery remains shared. Embedded firmware, robotic systems, and controls specialists will join later; early members will traverse boundaries for rapid iteration. Titles will evolve based on ownership and impact, rewarding builders over titles.
