Weekday's Client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Gurugram, Haryana, India. This position calls for someone who enjoys taking ideas from concept through to finished product, combining technical skill with practical manufacturing knowledge and business awareness. The role involves full ownership of the product lifecycle and close collaboration with other teams to bring physical products to market.
What You Will Do
- Lead mechanical product development from initial concept, through detailed design, prototyping, and mass production.
- Create precise 3D models and detailed 2D drawings, following GD&T standards.
- Apply Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) principles to all work.
- Build, test, and refine prototypes to confirm design performance and reliability.
- Manage vendor relationships, including sourcing, negotiations, and quality checks.
- Oversee tooling processes and support smooth transitions to high-volume manufacturing.
- Work closely with electrical, design, and project management teams to align efforts.
- Spot potential production risks early and develop engineering solutions to keep projects on track.
- Support manufacturing, quality testing, packaging, and supply chain activities as needed.
- Maintain and update Bills of Materials (BOM) using PLM systems.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in mechanical design engineering with a record of successful product launches.
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes such as injection molding, casting, extrusion, and CNC machining.
- Direct experience with prototyping, testing, and validating designs.
- Advanced skills in CAD tools like SolidWorks or Creo.
- Solid understanding of GD&T and engineering standards (ISO, ASME, ASTM).
- Experience managing vendors and working with global manufacturing partners.
- Proactive approach to solving problems and addressing production challenges.
- Background in startup or high-growth settings with cross-functional responsibilities.
- Ability to adapt quickly and take on tasks outside core mechanical design work.
- Demonstrated leadership, including mentoring or guiding team members.
